Electrical Steels for the Electrical Grid
Westinghouse Electric approached our predecessor company back in 1902 about developing a new product for improved power transformers. We began to do research and tapped the first heat of what is now known as electrical steel. This thrust our company into the electrical power business. As a result of this development, the United States was able to create the first transcontinental power network. AK Steel continues to be a leader and the only supplier in the U.S. of highly efficient steels that power our grid.
