Butler Works is a leading producer of flat rolled electrical and stainless steels as well as a supplier of stainless semi-finished slabs.
Electrical steels produced at Butler include the only high-permeability electrical steel made in the United States, the patented TRAN-COR® H, used in power transformers.
Our Regular Grain-Oriented products are used for power and distribution transformers. Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) grades are used primarily in electric motors, generators and lighting ballasts.
Stainless steels from Butler include chrome (ferritic) grades used in applications that need to withstand extreme heat and corrosive conditions. Chrome nickel (austenitic) grades of stainless are designed for applications that demand extraordinary strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
Butler Works has earned ISO/TS-16949 and ISO-9001 certification.
The plant is a recipient of several customer quality awards, including a
"TOP Operations and Plant Award" by 33 Metalproducing Magazine, which
recognizes North American metal plants on the leading edge of
competitiveness. Butler Works has also received the "Pennsylvania Governor's
