AK Steel Receives Dual Supplier Awards From Toyota For 11th Consecutive Year

Middletown, OH, March 24, 2005—AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) has once again earned dual supplier awards from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc.  The awards for 2004 performance, Superior in Quality and Superior in Delivery, were presented Wednesday at Toyota’s annual Supplier Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony held in Covington, Kentucky.   The awards for 2004 marked the 11th consecutive year that AK Steel has garnered two awards, and is also the seventh consecutive year that AK Steel has earned Toyota’s highest level of recognition, Superior, in both the quality and delivery categories.

“As Toyota continues to grow in North America, our suppliers are challenged to meet Toyota’s high standards on an even greater scale,” said Osamu “Simon” Nagata, vice president of purchasing for TMMNA, located in Erlanger, Kentucky.  “Toyota’s success here is directly linked to the success of our suppliers.”
